A Part of Your Life
Make stretching a part of your daily life.
Just as you eat and
imbibe to nourish the body, so must you stretch the body. And
while it may be a challenge to work a routine into your day remember
the axiom: Time is not something that you have, it is something that you make.
So include stretches in your daily routine without fail. This is the
first step in utilizing the hard work you will put into this course.
We also encourage you to establish a daily or weekly
yoga practice in conjunction with the program we will
design. |

Flexibility Programs
In this hands-on program, you are learning
a full body stretch routine with emphasis on the spine, hamstrings, torso and neck.
One of the main goals of this program is to teach good technique in stretching in
order to avoid injury, increase flexibility and decrease the aches and pains that
come with age, injury and improper posture. Ideal for all ages, these techniques
are simple, effective and are used in combination with breathing techniques to
increase the effectiveness of each stretch.
What to Expect
There are many forms of stretching, whether it is a natural stretch at your desk, a
sequenced form of stretches led by a yoga instructor or assisted stretches with your
massage therapist. In this course, we will cover a mixture of techniques drawing from
different theories and flexibility practices such as Myofascial Release™, yoga, kung fu
and western physical therapy. Picking out which stretches work best for you and putting
them into a routine is only part of the equation. Setting goals, focusing on your
breathing, staying present during your routines and listening to your body is equally
important and you are encouraged to do so throughout this class and your home routine.
How we address flexibility will be largely influenced by
fascial theory.
Program Structure
We will discuss stretches for particular areas of the body since many commonly experience
“symptomatic tightness” in the spine, low back and hamstrings. However, we will also begin
to view our body as a 3-dimensional being where every area of fluidity or tightness
interplays with every other part of the body to influence levels of flexibility, discomfort
and well being. Our discussion of fascial theory will hopefully lead you to think (and feel!)
about your body in an entirely new light.
Your program will include the following features:
Introduction to the body
Introduction to the body
Spinal flexibility
Torso flexibility
Hamstring flexibility
Cervical flexibility
Personalizing your routine
Maintaining a home routine
Program Cost
To cover the essentials of this program a 1.5 hour - 2 hour commitment is required.
In addition, the purchase of a physioball is required and additional tools to increase
the effectiveness of your routine are also available. Therefore a program can range
from $170-$230 depending on the length of the session and the tools purchased.
Please call our office to schedule a time to
meet with our therapists, or, should you have any questions our staff will be happy to
answer any of your questions.
