· Swedish (Relaxation) Massage
Massage techniques using oil to lubricate the skin for long, flowing strokes.
This type of massage is the most common of Western massage modalities and has profound effects
upon the body which include increasing circulation, improving skin tone, and enhancing the function
of both the lymphatic and immune systems.
·Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release, as taught by John Barnes, P.T., is an extremely mild and gentle form of stretching
that has a profound effect upon the tissues of the body, especially the fascial system. Click
here to learn more.
·Deep Tissue
Therapy
At Austin BodyWorks our therapists are specially trained
with advanced techniques available at no other Austin
facility to provide true Deep Tissue Therapy. In their
training, they go beyond the ambiguous “deep tissue”
label (that most therapists advertise) by cooperating
with the body instead of trying to force it, thereby
allowing the skilled therapist to soften through the
layers of tissue to get to those deep restrictions that
cause pain and dysfunction in the musculoskeletal system.
This type of therapy is appropriate for tight muscles,
assisting the healing process after a muscle injury,
stiffness, headaches, sciatica, low back pain, neck
pain, tightness between the shoulder blades and much
more. If one of our therapists is designated as a Deep
Tissue Specialist, you are ensured that she or he has
the additional training to help you!
·Sports Massage
A conglomeration of massage modalities designed to increase
the performance of athletes. Massage sessions are scheduled
before and after events with maintenance sessions during
and between training cycles to decrease the likelihood
of injury, improve training ability and improve overall
musculoskeletal function.
·Hot Stone Massage
Specially selected basalt stones are heated and placed
on specific areas of the body in this unbelievable treatment.
In combination with a relaxation massage, these stones
greatly increase the circulation and relaxation effect
in an 80-minute treatment.
··Cranio-Sacral
Therapy
Named by Dr. John E. Upledger, D.O., O.M.M., this form
of therapy addresses the system created by the brain,
spinal cord and dura mater which surrounds the two former
components. The techniques used are non-invasive and
rely on the self-corrective aspects of our bodies to
correct imbalances by treating the entire cranio-sacral
system.
·Reflexology
Manipulation of certain points on the feet and hands to influence the functioning of organs,
relieve pain and increase circulation throughout the body.
·Paraffin
Hand and Foot Treatment
The hands and/or feet are dipped into warm paraffin
wax to provide a deep heat to the joints and muscles
of the hand/foot while softening and hydrating the skin.
A great addition to any massage service.
·Shiatsu
An Oriental healing art where pressure is applied to specific points all over the body to release tension
and balance the body as well as mind and spirit.
·Aromatherapy
With an aromatherapy addition, your therapist will use
a specially-designed, aromatic oil blend from Arbonne.
This oil blend derives its tension-relieving aroma from
ylang ylang and chamomile infused in a blend of jojoba,
grapeseed and hazel oils. This adds a wonderfully relaxing
dimension to any massage session!
·Flexibility Programs
These programs can be combined with any treatment modality
and is useful to anyone with an injury, to anyone who
lacks flexibility or as a supplement to an existing
exercise program. These programs provide the client
with the ideas and techniques to self-manage pain and
structural imbalances.
·Trigger Point Therapy
Pioneered by Janet Travell, M.D., physician to both JFK and LBJ, this therapy focuses on the release
of tight bands within muscles called trigger points. These trigger points can cause pain, decreased range
of motion and the referral of pain in areas remote from the origin.
·Hydrotherapy
Use of water, heat or cold to increase circulation and promote relaxation and healing in the area(s)
of application.
·Couples
Massage
This is a great way to share a relaxing hour
together as you enjoy a side-by-side massage from two
of our therapists. We create a sacred space with dim
lights, relaxing music and a peaceful atmosphere to
create a wonderfully memorable session.
·Hot
Oil Scalp Addition
This is the best, most cost-effective addition to any
massage service. Your therapist will use Aveda’s
Active oil, heated to the perfect temperature and drizzle
it along your scalp line and follow with an unbelievable
scalp massage. It will leave your scalp and hair hydrated
and buzzing with relaxation. The Active oil may be left
in the hair for several hours after application and
will continue to nurture and soothe the scalp and hair
until washed.”
